The future is now

Folks, I have seen the future..and it is goooood! My home theater system was upgraded this weekend to the latest in television technology. I took delivery of a Samsung 56 Inch DLP rear projection TV, and all I have to say is…WOW. Who needs to go out to the movies, I got a screen almost as big right here! My regular DVD’s look fantastic, and today I had my first ever viewing of a Blu-Ray movie vis a vis my brothers Playstation 3 console which we brought in to take around the block. Granted, the actual film could have been better (Fantastic 4 Rise of the Silver Surfer), but this is it folks! Unless 3D is right around the corner this format is here to stay. The picture was spectacular. I couldn’t help myself and plunked in all kinds of DVD’s just to get a taste of the awesomeness that is 1080P.
Now, listen up Hollywood and hardware manufacturers. I’m not investing in HD level equipment right now. Nope, not unless you guys stop this ridiculous format war and play nice. I would have been sold today on a hi def player believe me, but since I’m not sure who will end up on top I am not going to make a move. And no, sorry the current crop of multi format models are just too expensive right now. Hey, I just plunked down enough money on the TV. I consider myself a semi early adopter, a bit of a movie nerd, and if I’m not stepping forward. How do you expect grandma down the street to do so either? Granted she just got her first DVD player last month and has no idea what the hell a Blu-ray is or an HD-DVD is.
