Wow, I can’t believe that July is pretty much done, and summer is practically over already. Since the year is already half way done I thought this would be a good time to stop and take stock in what DVD’s make the cut that I have reviewed over the last seven months or so. Mind you, its not based on the entire catalog of every single DVD that was made this year, just the ones I got a chance to take. Remember as well these are DVD’s, not Blu-ray movies, I’m hoping to rectify that soon too. Yes I know, another list but I like em so too bad! So with out delay, my picks of the best DVD’s.
| Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay
“Dude! Its Harold and Kumar and their misadventures continue in this sequel to their first attempted outing to White Castle a few years ago. Guantanamo Bay takes this duo to an entirely new level of outrageous comedy, you’ll be grinning from ear to ear after this film is over.” |

| The Spiderwick Chronicles Field Guide Edition
“I was fully expecting The Spiderwick Chronicles to be another mediocre entry into this genre, but found myself to be really enjoying this movie. Yes its a typical childhood fantasy film, but it stands a bit apart from others like Chronicles of Narnia as it is set in our modern world (and not in Europe either) and retains its sense of wonder and magic.” |

| Cloverfield
“I felt like I was watching Godzilla meets Gossip Girl, you know hip young New Yorkers intertwined into some sort of soap opera type drama that gets interrupted when this big ole monster decides to stomp Manhattan. Or maybe its a movie about Ambercrombie and Fitch models running amok. Is it tongue in cheek? I don’t know, it almost could be. It is a lot of fun though, at the expense of New York once again.” |

| Juno Special Edition
“Somehow Diablo was able to take themes like teen pregnancy, divorce, and adoption and turn it on its ear and make it into a feel good movie, although in real life of course many teen pregnancies do not have much of a happy ending. It is a charming film, accompanied by a whimsical music soundtrack following the trial and tribulations of a teenager confronted with the concept of having a baby and being forced to grow up before her time.” |

| Walk The Line Extended Cut
“But what truly makes this film is the music. Johnny Cash’s talent is what is being showcased here.” |

| Zodiac Director’s Cut
“The film itself is a work cinematic art. Unconventional camera angles, much use of the first person perspective, extreme close ups and blocking of shots add to the experience.” |
