Whoops, this one almost slipped by me..durn email. Warners has announced that Fool’s Gold will make its way onto DVD and Blu-ray June 17th. According to the press release it will be a single disc in widescreen and full screen formats for $28.98 SRP and on Blu-ray disc for $35.99 SRP. Full screen still? How long are you going to do this Warners? Here are the basics:
Just saw this via Twitter referencing this story, Paramount is finally releasing some Blu-Ray titles on May 20th. First out of the gate are,’ ‘Face/Off,’ ‘Next,’ ‘Bee Movie,’ and ‘There Will Be Blood.’ followed up by The Spiderwick Chronicles on June 24th. Now we can all sigh collectively as the format war is officially over, as Universal also recently released its own list of titles to come to Blu as well.
Warner Bros is set to release this classic Cowboy flick to DVD and Blu-Ray on August 26th September 9th in a newly restored print. The film that features Cinerama (you know, that really really wide screen format) will come in three flavors, Ultimate Collectors Edition, Two disc Standard DVD Collectors Edition and a Blu-Ray version. The pricing for these sets are $59.92 SRP for Ultimate, $20.97 SRP for the two disc dvd and $34.99 for Blu. The Ultimate edition will come with a 20-page theatrical press book reproduction, 10 behind-the-scenes photo cards and 10 postcards, and an exclusive movie poster offer. The Blu-ray edition will have a ‘Smilebox’ feature, so you can watch the entire film in its original Cinerama aspect ratio (2.89:1) on your TV, time for a bigger screen? It will also come with a special Digi-book packaging featuring 32-pages of rare press materials and behind-the-scenes photos. Other special features, which it doesn’t say if its on all of them include:
In a tie in promotion with fathers day this year, Fox has just announced the release of several classic war films onto the Blu-Ray format on June 3rd. Hoo rah! Are dads this easy to buy for? Yes! The movies in question are Battle of Britain, The Longest Day, Patton (sweet!), The Sand Pebbles, and A Bridge Too Far. This is not a box set, so each title will cost you $39.98 SRP. No word on if these films have been remastered, so I’m not sure how well older films such as these would translate into hi def. Still, I like the idea, especially with Patton although this looks like a rehash of the original Special Edition DVD.
I know this may be a bit off topic for this web site, but I found it to be a nice chuckle. I have never seen a film made by this man nor do I ever intend to. The boys over at Fearnet asked master schlock film maker Uwe Boll what it would take for him to leave the room permanently. You know, the guy behind such cinematic masterpieces like Alone In The Dark, House Of The Dead, Bloodrayne and others. The relevant quote from the interview:
DUDE! Fox is planning to release this classic crime surfing flick on Blu-Ray July 1st man. Even in 1080p hi definition, you cannot salvage Keanu’s acting skills. All kidding aside bra, this is a great ride and one of the classic films that defined the 90’s and launched Keanu from that guy in Bill and Ted’s to something more credible…maybe. Looks like its a rehash of the previous Pure Adrenaline Edition with a bit more stuff to it. Tubular!
